The Omoda C5 only shows Google Maps through Android Auto, with your phone plugged in. With JaecooApp you can install Google Maps on the C5 itself, signed in to your Google account, with saved places and live traffic.

Already followed the YouTube guide for the C5? Then JaecooApp and MicroG are installed: go to Step 3.

What you need

  • A laptop or Android phone with Chrome or Edge, and a USB-A to USB-A data cable.
  • The car on, screen awake, Bluetooth off on the head unit.
  • Internet on the car, for example your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot.

Step 1: Enable ADB and install JaecooApp

  1. On the car, open Settings → System, then tap the bottom-left corner of the screen 10 times.
  2. In the engineering menu, open Encryption, calculate the password with the ADB guide for the C5 and enter it.
  3. Open ADB SWITCH and set Adb Switch to Open.
  4. Plug the cable into the USB-A (CarPlay / Android Auto) port, open the installer, press Connect Head Unit, allow USB debugging on the car, and press Install JaecooApp.

Step 2: Install MicroG and sign in

  1. Open JaecooApp → Jaecoo Store and install MicroG.
  2. Open MicroG and sign in with your Google account.

MicroG stands in for Google Play Services, which the C5 does not have, so Google Maps can use your account.

Step 3: Install Google Maps

  1. In Jaecoo Store, install Google Maps.
  2. Open it, choose your Google account and allow location access when asked.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open the engineering menu on the Omoda C5?

Open Settings, then System, and tap the bottom-left corner of the screen 10 times. Tapping the Version information title, as on the Jaecoo J7, does nothing on the C5.

Why not just use Android Auto?

Android Auto needs your phone plugged in. Google Maps installed on the C5 runs on the car itself and stays there when your phone is not connected.

Does Google Maps need internet?

Yes, for search and live traffic. Connect the head unit to Wi-Fi, for example your phone's hotspot.

Is there an alternative to Google Maps?

Waze is also in Jaecoo Store, with community traffic, accident and speed camera alerts.
