The installer makes JaecooApp the car’s Device Owner so it can install apps silently, hide apps and turn off the built-in maps. Android only allows this under strict conditions. If accounts are the problem, see the accounts error; the other cases are below.

The car has more than one user

Device Owner needs a car with a single user.

  1. Open the car’s Settings → Users and remove the extra users, keeping only the main one.
  2. Press Install JaecooApp to grant it again.

Another app holds Device Owner

Only one app per car can be Device Owner, often an old JaecooApp or another launcher.

  1. Open that app and remove device administration in its settings, or uninstall it.
  2. Press Install JaecooApp to grant it again.

The car doesn’t allow Device Owner

The car’s system doesn’t allow setting a Device Owner over USB. JaecooApp still works normally; only the Device Owner features are limited. If you need them, press Copy technical log on the installer page and send it to us.

Something else

Unplug and replug the cable, then press Install JaecooApp again.

Check before you install

When you connect the car, the installer checks Device Owner and tells you where things stand: JaecooApp is the Device Owner, Another app holds Device Owner, or The car is ready to grant it. If Device Owner can’t be granted during the install, the installer removes JaecooApp again, so you can fix the cause and start clean.

Frequently asked questions

Does JaecooApp work without Device Owner?

Yes. Only the features that need it are limited - silent installs and updates, hiding apps and disabling the built-in maps.

Why did the installer remove JaecooApp?

Device Owner could not be granted, so the installer removed the app it had just installed. Fix the cause shown on the page, then press Install JaecooApp again.
